Mid-Term- Next week is the mid-term. This year your child is going to receive letter grades in both spelling and math. I am going to be sending home a mid-term grade for your child next Tuesday in both of those subjects. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about your child’s grades. Please make sure you are looking through their take-home folder nightly to help you see how your child is doing in both of those subjects. The math sheets that show how many points they got out of the total possible are added to their grade. The sheets that have a star on them are just practice and do not go toward their letter grade.
If a child does not do well on an assignment I usually have them redo the assignment, but in order to have an accurate grade for the child I will not give them those points back. They also know that I am always here if they don't understand the assignment. I have them redo the assignment to ensure they have an understanding of the concept.
Lunch with grandparents went really well. It was so nice to see all of the visitors in our school spending time with the kids!

Reading: The kids are doing a great job with building Stamina in reading. I will begin testing the kids in reading starting this coming week. This is a long process and will take a couple of weeks to get all of the kids tested.
Math: Ways to help your child at home in math- Math skills are just as important as reading skills for your child. I appreciate all of your help at home practicing with him or her on their addition facts, skip counting, and telling time skills.
