Parent Teacher Conferences- I have really enjoyed those of you who I have had the opportunity of getting to sit down with and discuss your child's progress! I am looking forward to getting to meet with the rest of you this evening!
Math- Today we had a lesson on making true equations. This goes with a standard the kids have to meet where they have to find the missing addend in an equation and where they have to make an equation true. An example of this is 5 + 9 = 7 + _. They have to figure out what 5+9 is first to figure out what they need to add to 7 that will equal that same amount. Minds were blown today:), but we will continue working on this next week. Also we are working on subtraction within 20 in this next unit. Please continue practicing addition facts with your child because once those facts are solid, subtraction comes easier.
Writing- We started our all about pumpkins writing this week. Together we wrote what a pumpkin needs to grow so I could model for them how to write the beginning of an informative piece, use transition words with details, and wrap it up with an ending.
Reading- Thank you for reading nightly with your child! This really makes a difference for them. On Mondays I will send home the new weekly reading log and collect the one from the prior week. I am keeping track of them and will be sending out the pizza coupons at the end of the month for those who have turned in the completed logs every week.:)
