Last Day/Half Day
Next Friday, the 26th, will be our last day of school. This day is also a half day and students will be dismissed at 12:30 that day. Please continue to send backpacks all next week. I will be sending home items from our classroom so it will be helpful in getting them home.

Family Art Night
Tonight Willard East is hosting our Family Art Night starting at 6:30. We will also have a food truck, The Polka Dot Pig opening at 6:00.

Spring Pictures
Spring pictures have been canceled for the 18th, so there will be NO Spring pictures this year. Sorry for any confusion!

Field Trip
Our field trip is going to be on Tuesday, May 16th. This year, due to having a large number of students, we will not be able to have parents attend. I am sending home a permission slip in your child’s take home folder today for you to sign. Please have this and the $7 sent back in no later than April 28.

Field Day Shirts
Today, I am also sending home a sign up for field day t-shirts. If you would like to purchase one, please have the form and money sent back in by April 20. Field day is scheduled for May 12.

Chargers
If you requested for a charger to be sent home, please send those back in as soon as possible. You should no longer need them since iPads stay at school.

Read Across America
Next week, February 27- March 3 is Read Across America. To celebrate this year, the theme is READ LIKE A… So each day we will read in different ways! Here is what we will be doing:

Monday, February 27 Read like a COWBOY… Turn your chair around backwards and read
Tuesday, February 28 Read like a FRIEND… Find a buddy and share your favorite book
Wednesday, March 1 Read like a CAVEMAN… Read under a table or desk
Thursday, March 2 Read like a BOSS… Put your feet up (on the desk) and enjoy a book
Friday, March 3 Read like a Rockstar… Your future's so bright, you have to wear shades (students are welcome to bring sunglasses this day to participate)

We also will get to read together with a fourth grade class on Thursday to celebrate!

Charging and Returning iPads
This first week with iPads going home went pretty well. I need to make a correction about when the iPads are at home. I know I asked for you to keep them in their backpacks, but some of the iPad batteries are at 5% or less when the kids bring them back to school so they do not have enough battery to do their Daily 5 Reading Stations in the mornings. Please charge your child's iPad nightly and then place them back in their backpacks so they have them the next day for school. Thank you for your support with this!
