I would like to thank all of our parents and especially Mrs. Lawson for making this a fantastic fall party! I really enjoyed it and know that the kids did too!:-)
Our October Tiger Pride Assembly is today at 2:30.
Reading- We are will continue reading Non-Fiction books.
Math-We are continuing to work on place value, skip counting by 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s, counting coins, and working with clocks. A good way to help your child is to have them tell you the time to the nearest 5 minutes. With this week's lessons I have noticed that the kids would really benefit from extra practice with place value for ones, tens and hundreds. Give a coin amount like 49 cents and have your child tell you how many tens and ones are in that amount. You could even challenge your child by having him or her tell you how many dimes and pennies they would use to make those amounts. This helps solidify their knowledge of tens and ones. Thank you in advance for all of your support at home!
Writing- Our writing and science units are going to be one big unit. In writing we are writing informational stories, but the kids are writing about experiments they are doing in class. This is a new and exciting way to teach informational writing.
