Thank you! I want to thank everyone who helped make the Valentine's Day party a success. I also want to thank you for being understanding of me not being able to be at school that day.
Math- The kids have blown me away with their knowledge of place value! They had no problems mastering addition with regrouping. Now it is time to take on subtraction with and without having to regroup. Basic subtraction facts are a little more difficult for the kids than addition facts. Practicing basic subtraction facts with your child would be very beneficial to help prepare them for math the next few weeks.
Reading- This week we focused on Point of View in a story. We talked about the key words used to help us determine if the story is first person or third person. Ask your child what the pronouns used for each Point of View are. Next week we will be using text to find information to answer questions about the text.
Writing- For these next few weeks we will be reviewing narrative writing. We will continue focusing on correct capitalization of letters, ending sentences with the correct punctuation, using transition words, and writing complete sentences.
Science- I was so impressed with the catapults the kids brought in. They were amazing!!
This week we focused on mass, matter, mixtures, and how to separate mixtures. Next week we are going to be focusing on using a balance to measure the mass of items.
Word Work Words- The Word Work words for next week are:
grow, people, light, hold, pick
