We have finished our first full week of school! What a quick week!
I will be sending the link to my blog every Friday. Please feel free to visit my website anytime.
Student Teacher
We have a Student Teacher in our class. Her name is Miss Vincent. Miss Vincent will be here on and off until December. I can tell you that the kids have already grown attached to her. She is great with all of them and teaching comes naturally to her. Below is the letter Miss Vincent has written to introduce herself to you.
Dear Families,
I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself and let you know a little more about myself. My name is Brittany Vincent and I am the student teacher working with Mrs. Smith this semester. I am currently a student at Missouri State University and a graduate from Willard High School. As a previous student of the Willard school system, I know what a great school district I am getting the chance to work with. I am so excited to be working with your children and getting to know them! I have already enjoyed the short amount of time I have spent with them. I will be slowly taking over responsibilities within the classroom. I will begin by picking up one subject every week to plan and teach and will eventually be taking over teaching the entire day. I want learning to be fun and exciting for your children. I know I will be learning a great deal as your children teach me many different lessons throughout the semester.
Best Regards,
Brittany Vincent
We will start our normal Spelling routine next week. I will send home the homework page on Monday and it has to be completed and turned in no later than Thursday. Please make sure your child is using a pencil for this and not rushing through with their worst hand writing.
One of the many things I am trying to teach my students is about not capitalizing spelling words. If they write one of their spelling words with a capital letter they will get 1/2 off for that error. Another thing I am going to be working on with them is not reversing the letters or numbers. I have shown them the alphabet strip they have on their name tag at their desk and the one at the front of the room for them to use to make sure their letters look correct. I know this will be corrected with practice, but I am also trying to teach them to double check their work and take time on their work instead of rushing through it.
Next Week’s Spelling Words:
Lesson #2 Spelling Words
pet set
leg went
ten pen
yes wet
