Supplies Needed!!! With all of the sicknesses going around I have been taking a long hard look at what I can do to help keep all of the kiddos more healthy and help prevent the spread of these horrible germs. With that being said, I am going to get rid of the community supplies and have each child have their own supplies. There are a few things we are short on and it would be great if we could get some of these items donated...
Snacks for next week are below. I want to thank all of you for your support with bringing in snacks for these wonderful kiddos!
This week's snack helpers are:
Mon.-Kinsley
Tues.-Jacob
Wed.-Easton
Thurs.-Sonni
Fri.- Jasmine
Math: Unit 10 has been a difficult unit for some of the kids. They are solving two digit addition problems with and without regrouping. The strategies they are being taught are not like what we were taught. It is more of a mental math or using pictures of tens and ones to help the solve the problems. It would be very helpful if you could have your child explain to you each night how we solved the problems in their math packet. That would help reinforce those strategies. We are taking this unit a lot slower than the units in the past. Once we have taught all of the lessons, we will be doing review lessons for each one to help solidify each strategy.:) The study guide will be going home next week, but I will let you know at a later date when the test will be.
Writing We have been continuing to work on stating our opinion, writing three reasons that explain our opinion using transitioning phrases like - My first reason is, Another reason is... and then they are restating their opinion for the conclusion in their writing.
Reading: Please remember to have your child read nightly. Even 5-10 minutes of reading nightly is beneficial.
