October 11 already!?!
I don't know about you, but time is FLYING for me. In two weeks I will be having conferences with you. I am so excited to have that opportunity! As you know by now, the grade cards have drastically changed, so this will be a new and exciting way of looking at your child's progress in second grade. The good part about Standards-Based grading is that the results from your child's assessments gives us a clear picture on if your child is meeting the grade level standards he or she is being assessed on. Another fabulous part of standards-based grading is that if they don't meet that standard, they don't stop learning that standard. That gives me the chance to individualize my teaching for the needs of the kids.
Reading- Guided Reading groups went really well. The kids are interested in the books and really want to participate with me when we are in our groups.
Math-We just completed unit 1 in math and are now beginning Place Value, skip counting, counting coins, and working with clocks.
Science- We will continue our rocks unit.
Upcoming Events:
Oct. 18- Royal Readers
Oct. 21- 30- Pumpkin Grams go on sale
Oct. 22 and 24- Parent Teacher Conferences
Oct. 25- No School
Oct. 31- Fall Party
Oct. 28- Nov. 1 - Red Ribbon Week- More details to come at a later date.
